Two of the eight-goal victory was donated Madrid's most expensive player, Cristiano Ronaldo. Additional two goals made him break the record all-time top scorer with 40 league goals in one season.
Previously, the record is held by Telmo Zarra (Bilbao) and Hugo Sanchez (Madrid) who each scored 38 goals in season 1950-51 and 1989-90.

The only record that can be shared between Madrid and Barcelona this season is a team with a record for most goals in one game that is as many as eight goals. Madrid was a record defeat at Almeria (8-1) early this morning. Meanwhile, Barca won 8-0 also over Almeria on 20 November 2010.
